Addiction

Addiction, like so many things in life, is complicated. It takes its toll on a person both physically and mentally. It also affects the entire family, friends, colleagues, and even the community. Without help, addiction destroys families and even takes lives.

Anything can be addictive: food, sex, drugs, even the Internet. Some things are more harmful than others but any addiction has the potential to derail your life. A behavior is likely to be an addiction if you repeat it when it makes your life unhealthy and eventually unmanageable.

If you or a loved one is struggling with addiction, I can help you along each stage of the journey toward recovery. As a counselor I help clients explore problem areas, set goals and assist in the process of working through problems in order to establish a more meaningful and productive life. I also teach people about addiction, encourage changes in their lives, reinforce their progress, and support them when they run into problems.

Anyone affected by addiction can benefit from my therapy. Family members, and even close friends of an addict, may need treatment.
